A Very Tasty SNL Digital Short

I will always love SNL. Maybe because it's a dream of mine to be on the show, but does that make me biased? Probably. Nonetheless, I still root for SNL everyday. And I am very much in love with this cast. I would say to those not digging SNL right now, to at least give this season a chance. It's been Very Tasty thus far, even the season premiere hosted by Megan Fox was not a disappointment like I thought it might be with said host. I'm not a fan of Megan, but was surprisingly impressed with her performance duties as host. It's as if she took it seriously and tried to learn her lines rather than read off a cue card as most hosts, (and even cast members sadly) have been doing a lot more of in recent years. It upsets me. But Megan Fox will probably only hear a compliment from me once in her life and here it is... She was both funny and impressive hosting SNL this season. I still dislike her exploiting herself and body. But welcome to Earth, right?

Anyway, the Oct. 3rd episode of SNL was full of Very Tasty surprises and clever skits, with the obvious hit and misses, (mainly hits), with host Ryan Reynolds who was slightly underused but Tasty in all his roles. The highlight of the show for me however was the ever popular Digital Short that genius Andy Samberg puts together. He has done many of these, one that won him an Emmy even called, "D**K in a Box" with Justin Timberlake. This video is very filthy and annoyingly catchy. And freaking Justin Timberlake, I've never really been a fan, but he is one hilarious dude. Maybe it's jealousy, I don't know. But he impressed me every time he visited the SNL set last season and also when he hosted. Check that episode out... I beg you. Justin Timberlake hosting SNL last season, one of my all time favorite episodes. But back to the Digital Short from last nights episode. Quite the treat for me. I've already re-watched it a few times now and still laugh. Congrats Andy Samberg, you've created another great video worth sharing. I applaud your triumphs.

Please enjoy and start watching SNL again. Mainly so the viewership goes back up and they don't cancel the show before I can land a spot on the cast... That's not selfish right?

TV Tastes

I've been thinking a lot about what I wanted to share next and I decided on TV Tastes. There's a lot of shows out there these days, and the over abundance is very, overwhelming. My focus today is on a new comedy that is 'fo sho" worth checking out called

"Community"
airing Thursdays at 8pm on NBC

Now obvious comedy choices are the ever popular "The Office" (which for me is really struggling this season...) and "30 Rock" (the Emmy award winning show Starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin with season 4 premiering Thursday Oct. 15th at 9:30pm. I CANNOT WAIT!) I'm partial to NBC shows right now apparently. There's another hit or miss show called "Parks and Recreation" starring the very funny Amy Poehler. But I'm afraid that she alone along with one other incredibly funny man, Aziz Ansari, can't save that show. I know it was created by Greg Daniels, the same guy who brought us "The Office", but "P&R" feels like a cheap rip off of "The Office". I do wish that show the best, but so far I'm no convinced.

Back to "Community". This delightful "diamond in the rough" has proven itself with each new episode. This show stars the quirky and funny Joel Mchale from E!'s "The Soup" playing a lovable douchebag and he pulls it off...um... easily. I don't want to sound mean with that statement. He's hilarious. With him are a lot of unknown actors who are all cast well and bring a lot to their "community" study group. And then there's Chevy Chase. I thought he was a goner. But thank God for "Community" because he is back playing a delightful idiot who you can't help but laugh at. Perfection. But the highlight of the show for me is from actor and comedian Danny Pudi. This guy makes the show. He plays a dry and honest character who is the glue to the group. Also, during the finally credits in episode 2 and 3, he single-handedly hooked me on the show. I laughed out loud at both moments.

So, are you interested but missed the first three episodes? Have no fear. There's an amazing site you can go to called Hulu.com and from here, you can watch all your favorite shows. With "Community", let the pilot slide. It's not the best episode but it sets up the story nicely. Episode 2 is funny and guest stars Ken Jeong as an over the top Spanish teacher. Not convinced by the episode, then watch the final scene during the credits. Episode 3 is fantastic with many moments that I laughed out loud at. Especially the final credits scene.

This show has a lot going for it. And I wish it the best. Very Tasty!

Introduction and First Tastes

Introduction.
I'm not sure where to begin.
How about with the name.
My Lavish Taste is a reference to a line in one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands.
"Selfish" by This Providence
It basically signifies that I have an abundance of "tastes", likes, things I enjoy... and rather than limit myself to one topic, I wanted to be able to address many topics such as film, music, photography... whatever my heart desires.
With My Lavish Taste, my main focus will be sharing my taste in music by bringing to light artists and songs that may or may not be known and reviewing movies and television shows.
My reviews and opinions are easily defined; they are my opinions. You may or may not like them. They are simply to enlighten. Take what you will.
I will also use MLT to share my writings and interests outside of the music and acting realm.
So please, enjoy My Lavish Taste and I hope it is enlightening.

First Tastes.
So since this is my First Taste, I will bring to light a few artists and songs that I am really digging lately and are at the top of my playlists. These are my...

Musical Tastes
:
Right now I am really into the Alternative/Electronic scene. Those poppy tones and voice distortions really get my juices flowing and legs moving. One song that is very Tasty and combines pop with electronics and even throws in some screamo is a song called,
"Hello Fascination" by Breathe Carolina from their "Hello Fascination" album.
I can't vouch for the other songs on the album. As catchy as they may be, the other songs push language barriers and I remain uninterested. If that doesn't bother you than please, I recommend checking Breathe Carolina out.
Another great band to check out is Phoenix. They have more of an independent feel to them but with a fresh pop sensation, something you would hear in a mainstream movie soundtrack, not a big blockbuster, but a movie along the lines of, say, "I Love You, Man" which is a movie I will mention in the future more. (A Very Tasty Treat)
"Lisztomania" by Phoenix from their Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album.
This song is destined to get stuck in your head. The French band (my fellow countrymen) have been around for awhile but this new cd is very promising and worth checking out. Other Tasty tracks are "Lasso" and "Girlfriend".
And finally for music Tastes...
iTunes offers a free song every week. This week's choice is a pretty decent track. The song is:
"Tin Man" by Animal Kingdom off of their newly released album Signs and Wonders
It's a peaceful, catchy tune and worth the free download. The other tracks seems to fall into place as well.

Movie Tastes:
So last Friday I went to see a movie that I had been looking forward to seeing because I am a die hard Bruce Willis fan. No "Die Hard" pun intended. He recently put out a little flick called,
"Surrogates"
And I'm sad to say it, but I was very disappointed in this film. Not in Bruce. He can do no wrong. It was the lousy story and quick conclusion that did it for me. I mean, so much could have been done with the ideas that they had at hand. And for all the money they put into that movie, the special effects and graphics were very mediocre. You want to see a movie that is Beyond Tasty and that used their money wisely with amazing special effects and graphics, check out the movie "District 9". I will go into more detail about that movie once it's DVD release date gets closer.
"Surrogates" is too short, not enough action, not enough substance, and a big letdown. It gets a Not Tasty from me. But I still love you Bruce and hope that one day I get to work with you...
Here's to dreaming, right?!
Upcoming movies I'm excited for:
"Where the Wild Things Are" (Oct. 16th), "The Invention of Lying" (Oct. 2nd), "Whip It" (Oct. 2nd), and "Zombieland" (Oct. 2nd)
I've got a busy week ahead...

So that's it for now. I hope it's been enlightening. Stay tuned for more Tasty Treats from My Lavish Taste. Feel free to leave your comments and voice your opinions. I encourage it.
